Highlighting the interior design trend for reflective surfaces, the Sunday Express' S Magazine ran a feature last month about all the stylish, art deco influenced furniture and accessories currently available to bring a little light into the world of interiors

The trend for opulence in interior design shows no sign of waning as Metro focusing an entire article on the use of light-reflecting metallics to add a touch of understated luxury to the home. With a sluggish housing market, the trend for bolder interiors is set to grow in 2012 according to an article posted in the Manchester Evening News this January. Drawing heavily on the views of Black Orchid's founder and furniture designer Sally Chamley, the article goes on to suggest that we will see stronger colours and more flamboyant choice in interiors as people choose designs that they want to live with rather than the neutral colour palette said to appeal to buyers. The piece, which featured in the Homes section of the paper and can be now viewed online, provides inspiration for those looking to a fresh look for 2012 and a great boost for the Black Orchid Interiors brand itself.

In a season where everything sparkles, Black Orchid's luxury gold cushion was chosen by Cosmopolitan to feature in their interiors page 'Design Doubles'. The page selects a number of up to the minute design accessories, showing readers how they can achieve a particular interior trend at both the luxury and budget ends of the design spectrum. Appearing in the Blowout Treat Yourself section, the Black Orchid cushion shimmered alongside decadent champagne glasses, a chandelier and hand-blown glass Christmas bauble, all designed to create a glittering and colourful display this Christmas.

The 36 sq/m flagship concession will be positioned on the 5th floor of the Deansgate department store and will showcase some of Black Orchid’s most popular designs.

Black Orchid Interiors will sit alongside House of Fraser’s growing collection of designer brands which bring together the very best of Fashion, Beauty and Homewares.

Key interior designers have been invited to join Black Orchid on the 5th Floor of HOF, Deansgate, Manchester for the grand opening on 1st Dec 2011. There will be canapés and champagne served between 4pm and 7pm. House of Fraser is open until 10pm for shopping that evening. There will be a brass band playing on every floor to celebrate. There will be 20% off the full Black Orchid range for one night only.

Gothic has been a massive trend in design for over 12 months or more seen on the international catwalks as well as in the world of interiors. It wasn't surprising therefore that The Times chose the run-up to Halloween to feature a piece on all things Gothic in their Interiors section. Selected as one of the key furniture pieces for the article was Black Orchid's Onix Black Lacquer Coffee Table which the paper described as: "Glossy black with just a hint of ornamentation...perfect topped with books and candles".

In addition to the excellent write up, the page also features an image of Black Orchid's luxury zebra print cushions and one of the several gorgeous table lamps available on the Black Orchid site.

This week, Black Orchid Interiors' Telescopic Floor Lamp received a 5-star Epic rating, the highest available, on The Grid, an online review of 'cool, geek and unique stuff' seen on the web. Part of blokely.com, which in turn is affiliated to Mr Porter, the men's version of the highly successful Net-a-porter, The Grid picks out the best new styles and gadgets each week and gives readers its opinion on the good, the bad and the beautiful. Of the lamp, it says, “Invest in your lighting and you'll see a brighter future. Perhaps. Or just get kudos from every single bloomin' visitor. You might even get to flick a few more switches.”
